How to make slime from detergent at home with your own hands

Slime, or slime, is a popular toy for children, which is a jelly-like stretching mass that can bounce or stick to surfaces. For the first time such a toy appeared in the last century, it was made from guar gum. Due to the fact that slime deteriorates in air, it is stored in a plastic jar. Such a toy can be made with your own hands at home. Let's see how to make your own slime from detergent.

How to choose the main ingredient

Slime can be made independently, from various convenient household ingredients. Suitable as a base for a toy: dishwashing detergent, toothpaste, starch, shampoo, shaving foam, PVA glue. Depending on the specific recipe, the properties of the toy will vary - it can be more sticky or more elastic.

To make slime look shiny, you will need dyes. Food coloring and liquid paints can be used.

Basic recipes

Let's look at some basic recipes for making a squishy toy at home.

Fairy with starch

For this recipe we need Fairy detergent and powdered starch. Stir the starch with water until it dissolves completely. Add a teaspoon of Fairy, mix well again until thickened. The mixture should be thick enough to form a slime. After the required consistency is reached, we take the slime in our hands and stretch it, knead it in our hands.

With toothpaste

You can make a toy using dish soap and toothpaste. Any paste is suitable, except for whitening, as it can cause allergies. Fruit jellies work well, because they have a pleasant smell and already have their own color, so you can do without dye.

Detergent, toothpaste and food coloring, or paint on a liquid base, are mixed together until the desired thickness and color are obtained. Adjust the thickness by adding toothpaste. Once the mixture is ready, put it in the fridge to harden a little.

soda solution

For the next recipe, we will need dish soap and regular baking soda. Pour about a glass of soda powder into the container and add the cleaning agent to it, stirring constantly, until the mixture becomes thick and gelatinous. If the solution thins, add a little more baking soda.

Liven up the slime with food coloring. If you use a green cleaner, you get a mass that looks like toxic cartoon waste.

With PVA glue

To obtain a more durable and elastic slime, we will use the method of preparation using glue. You will need detergent, soda, PVA glue, water and dye. Mix the glue and the cleaning agent, add a little water and mix the solution again thoroughly. The solution should foam a little. Pour soda into it and mix. The soda will react with the PVA glue and form a homogeneous mucus-like mass. The solution will be more difficult than in the previous method. If the mixture is sticky, add more baking soda. The finished slime prepared according to this recipe is elastic, easy to crush and stretch.

salty toy

Recipe for making slime from detergent and salt. Table salt and sea salt will do. We mix salt, detergent and glue. Stir until smooth. It is recommended to use gloves during cooking, as the salt can pinch your hands. Once the homogeneity of the mass is achieved, put the mixture in the refrigerator for an hour so that it hardens.

Using the microwave

Can be done slime shaving foam on hand, detergent and flour. We mix detergent and shaving foam, then add flour until our solution becomes thick. We put it in the microwave for a few minutes, then let the mixture cool for a while and sprinkle it with a little more flour. Knead the mixture on a board like regular dough. We put the toy in the refrigerator for a while so that it loses its excessive stickiness.

With the addition of shampoo

Steam the detergent and let it cool. Then add a thick shampoo. Stir and add a little salt, then put the slime in the fridge for thirty minutes. Use dyes to color the toy.

Sugar and shampoo

For the next method we need shampoo, sugar and detergent. Mix Fairy with shampoo in a one-to-one ratio, add three tablespoons of granulated sugar and put the mixture in the refrigerator. Add a little more sugar to keep the slime from getting too sticky.

Granulated sugar

This recipe will require dish detergent, powdered sugar and toothpaste. Mix all the ingredients together and place in the freezer for an hour to harden.

With your favorite hand care cream

For this recipe we need Fairy, hand cream, soda, a plastic cup and food coloring. Pour a tablespoon into a Faery plastic cup. Add a little baking soda and stir. Add the hand cream in an amount equal to the number of Fairies, and knead again.

If the consistency is not the same as you would like, next time try reducing or, conversely, increasing the volume.

Then we fill in the dye in sufficient quantity to obtain the brightness and color saturation of our future slime that we need. After all operations, pour the resulting mixture into a plastic bag and put it in the refrigerator for four to five hours. The result is an elastic slime. If the consistency is not the same as you would like, next time try to reduce or, conversely, increase the amount of hand cream in the composition.

Liquid soap and glue

Slime can be created using ingredients such as liquid soap and PVA glue. We also need food coloring or paint to give the toy a bright color. Pour the glue into the container and add the dye to it, then stir until the mixture is evenly colored. Add liquid soap to the solution. Knead well until a homogeneous mass is formed.

To remove excess detergent, soak the resulting mixture for three minutes in clean water.

With salt

We do liquid soap slime and table salt... Mix three to four teaspoons of liquid soap with food coloring. Add a pinch of salt to the solution and mix well again. We put the slime in the refrigerator for ten minutes, so that it hardens a little and becomes dense. Then we take the mixture out of the refrigerator and mix again.

In this case, salt is not the main ingredient, but is used as a thickener. Don't overdo it with salt, because if you add too much, the slime will become too hard and rubber-like in shape and consistency.

Precautionary measures

If you're making slime with salt, it's best to work with gloves because if you have sores or cuts in open areas of your skin, the salt will pinch.

Do not use dishes for mixing components, which will then be used for eating.

Mud, as well as its components, should not be taken orally, since chemicals can cause allergies, burns and poisoning. After playing with slime, you should wash your hands.Use disposable tableware as a container. Do not use dishes for mixing components, which will then be used for eating.

Slime Storage Rules

Slime should be stored in a plastic box, as the toy deteriorates in air and loses its properties. To extend the life of the toy, you can put the box with it in the refrigerator after playing - this will protect the slime from high temperatures and sunlight, which also spoil it.

Tips & Tricks
