12 recipes for making soap sludge at home

Slime (better known as slime) is a jelly-like toy for children that, due to the polymer and thickener, can change shape and stick to various surfaces. Such a product was popular in the 90s and again returned to store shelves. But now there is no need to buy a slime. There are over 10 different ways to make slime at home using soap and a number of other ingredients.

Characteristics of soap mud

The consistency of soap-based mud does not differ from muds obtained from other components. However, it is the detergent that is most often found in the recipes for creating this toy. This is explained by the fact that by changing the type of soap, you can create slime of different colors.

detergent jelly has the following characteristics:

  • soft jelly form;
  • the substance does not melt in the hands (subject to storage rules);
  • able to adhere to smooth surfaces;
  • leaves marks on furniture and walls.

Psychologists have found that regular slime play relieves stress. Slime also develops fine motor skills of the hands, which has a positive effect on the state of the nervous system.

Any type of soap can be used to create this toy. The only requirement is that the detergent should have a thick consistency.

What soap can slime be made from?

As stated above, any detergent is suitable for making sludge. At the same time, to create such a toy, it is recommended to take liquid soap. Household is not suitable for the intended purpose, since one of the main conditions for obtaining a toy is the presence of a gel-like base.

Basic Slime Recipes

The easiest recipe to prepare is one that uses only soap and salt. But by adding other components, you can improve the consistency of slime and extend its life.

The easiest recipe to prepare is one that uses only soap and salt.

With glue

To create a slime, you will need:

  • 150 grams of titanium-type glue;
  • 100 milliliters of soap (can be replaced with shampoo);
  • 3 drops of food coloring.

The glue, along with the soap, is placed in a dry container and mixed until smooth. In addition, a dye is added to this mass. At the end, the mixture is placed in a plastic bag (it is recommended to take a dense one) and well kneaded in your hands. During the preparation process, contact of the mass with water should be avoided.

No glue

Instead of glue, you can take 200 grams of starch and 100 milliliters of water. These ingredients, along with the same amount of soap, are placed in a container and mixed. Then the container is covered with plastic wrap and placed in the refrigerator for 12 hours. At the end of the allotted time, the slime is ready.

With baking soda

When making slime, liquid soap can be replaced with dishwashing detergent. This recipe will require:

  • Hand cream;
  • detergent;
  • a soda.

First, the detergent and soda are mixed (half a tablespoon and a teaspoon, respectively).To liquefy the resulting mass, it is necessary to gradually add water, bringing the composition to the required consistency. Then half a tablespoon of hand cream is introduced into the mixture. At the end, the slime is placed in a bag and stored in the refrigerator for four hours.

With toothpaste and flour

This recipe calls for the same amount of toothpaste for 20 milliliters of soap. While stirring the indicated ingredients, you need to gradually add 5 teaspoons of wheat flour. After that, the mass is diluted with a small amount of water and kneaded with your hands until the composition acquires a viscous consistency. If desired, a dye can be added to the finished mixture, as the mud eventually turns out to be transparent.

Daddy's beard

To get slime that looks like cotton candy, take:

  • 125 grams of Elmers type glue;
  • half a glass of water;
  • a glass of shaving foam;
  • half a teaspoon of baking soda;
  • saline solution.

Food coloring helps color the slime. And to get a slime of the required consistency, add half a cup of artificial snow such as Fine Fake Snow.

All ingredients are mixed in the following order:

  1. Glue and water.
  2. Shaving cream.
  3. Food coloring.
  4. A soda.
  5. Saline solution.

The composition should be stirred until the sludge leaves the walls of the container. After that, artificial snow is introduced into the mass, which compacts the mud.

How to make butter slime?

This type of slime has a dense consistency, which is achieved thanks to the following components:

  • 30 grams of detergent (shower gel is also suitable);
  • dye;
  • 85 grams of PVA;
  • 250 milliliters of hot water;
  • 5 grams of baking soda;
  • 10 milliliters of boric acid.

At the end, plasticine is added to the resulting mass in the same volume and the composition is kneaded in the hands until smooth.

Glue and detergent are mixed first. After that (if desired) the dye is added. In another container, water and soda are mixed. From the second composition, 15 milliliters are then taken, which are added to the first mass. Then boric acid is introduced into the mixture. At this stage, it is recommended to speed up the mixing of the slime. At the end, plasticine is added to the resulting mass in the same volume and the composition is kneaded in the hands until smooth.

With shampoo

This option for creating a slime is considered the easiest. To make a slime, you need to take 4 tablespoons of the main component and gradually add salt to this product until you get a product of the desired consistency. At the end, the mass is placed in the refrigerator.

With starch

This is the second, relatively simple option for creating a slime. To make a slime, you will need:

  • 75 milliliters of warm water;
  • half a teaspoon of dye;
  • 150 grams of starch.

In a prepared container, starch is first mixed with a dye, then water is gradually added.

Without sodium tetraborate

According to this recipe, it is necessary to pour PVA glue and two capsules of the gel used for washing clothes into the prepared container. Then, using a mixer, both components are whipped, after which the resulting composition is kept for 15 minutes.

With salt

This recipe is similar to the one where the shampoo was used.The difference is that in this case liquid soap is used, into which salt and soda should be gradually introduced until a mass of the desired consistency is obtained. At the end of the process, the composition must be placed in the refrigerator so that the slime hardens.

With sugar

Unlike the above manufacturing methods, according to this recipe, slime can be obtained only after 1-2 days. To create a slime, you need to mix 5 tablespoons of thick hand wash and 2 tablespoons of sugar (free-flowing, unrefined). After receiving a homogeneous mass, it should be placed in a container, closed and refrigerated for two days. After the allotted time, the mud should be kneaded with your palms for several minutes.

Unlike the above manufacturing methods, according to this recipe, slime can be obtained only after 1-2 days.

If the slime does not stretch well, a small amount of sugar should be reintroduced into the resulting slime and the mixture kept cold.

With shaving foam

For this recipe, you will need to pour PVA onto a flat surface and gradually work it into the last shaving product. The composition is kneaded to a homogeneous structure. If the slime has not acquired the desired consistency, the shaving agent is again introduced into the mass. The mass ends up being white. To change the color, you need to add food coloring of the desired shade to the mixture.

Precautionary measures

Slime doesn't hurt the body, provided that it does not touch the mucous membranes (mouth, eyes) or that it does not contain substances causing an allergic reaction. It is recommended to wash your hands after playing with slime.

How to store at home?

To prolong the “lifespan” of slime, the following recommendations should be adhered to:

  • store slime in a container with an airtight lid;
  • do not leave the toy in the cold;
  • avoid contamination;
  • Do not submerge in water.

A homemade slime retains its original consistency for 10 days. If this toy begins to emit an unpleasant odor or mold has appeared on the surface of the lump, the slime should be discarded.

What if nothing worked?

When creating a slime, the following issues often occur:

  1. The toy does not stick. To do this, you need to drain excess water from the mass, and then add a binder (glue, shaving foam, etc.) to the composition.
  2. Too sticky. In this case, you will need to add liquid starch or water (depending on the chosen recipe).
  3. Too slippery. You need to add glycerin to slime.
  4. Too soft. This consistency indicates excess water. To achieve the desired state, it is recommended to add a small amount of salt to the slime and place the toy in a container with a closed lid, for 12 hours.
  5. Not sweet enough. By analogy with the previous recommendation, instead of salt, a small amount of water is added to the container.
  6. Insufficient size. To make the slime bigger, the slime should be kept in a container of water for three hours. After that (if the mass crumbles), you need to add salt and hand cream.

If desired, essential oil or vanillin can be added to the finished composition. Thanks to this, the toy acquires a pleasant aroma.

Tips & Tricks

To increase the life of the toy, it is recommended to place the toy in water every day, adding a small amount of salt. If bubbles appear on the surface of the slime, it should be placed in a container and left undisturbed for 4 days. And to clean it from dirt, it is enough to substitute the toy under a stream of cold water. You can also use tweezers for these purposes.
