Technical characteristics of enamel HS-436 and instructions for use of the composition
The use of HS-436 enamel is justified in the shipbuilding industry. This material protects steel surfaces from corrosion. The paint is resistant to moisture, oils, gasoline. It is also characterized by resistance to abrasion and the influence of climatic factors. The composition is used to protect the waterline of the ship. The material is made on the basis of resins - the composition contains vinyl and epoxy.
Peculiarities of the composition
XC-436 enamel belongs to the category of products that contain two components. The composition is epoxy-vinyl based. It is actively used for processing steel coatings. The substance is designed for ship hulls. It is well suited for use in water. Enamel is also suitable for processing the cutting area and the waterline.
The material is characterized by a high degree of resistance to the influence of negative factors. It is resistant to fuel oil, sea salt and gasoline. In addition, the composition normally perceives the effects of diesel fuel or oils.
The use of enamel prevents the formation of corrosion.After complete drying, the enamel is characterized by a high degree of strength. For this reason, the composition is suitable for application to the area with a variable icebreaker waterline. The substance is characterized by the presence of all the necessary certificates.
Paint Specifications
The dye is sold in packs of 25 and 50 kilograms. The presence of solvents in the composition gives it a pronounced smell. After the end of the polymerization period, the aroma ceases to be emitted. With the help of enamel, it is possible to protect the surface from atmospheric vibrations and mechanical damage.
Diluent
For dilution, substances R-4 and R-4 A are used.
Color pallet
The enamel has different shades. The range includes the colors black, green and red.
Consumption rate
When using enamel, the layer thickness should be 235-325 grams per square meter of coating surface. In this case, 1 liter of substance is enough for 3.6-5 square meters. Paint should be applied in 2-4 layers - it all depends on the features of the operation.
how dry
The pigment dries quickly even in high humidity. The drying time for the first coat is 3 hours. This period is observed at a temperature regime of +20 degrees. After that, it is allowed to apply the following layers. The polymers solidify evenly and do not crack. In this case, the internal voltage does not appear.
Coating life
Enamel is sold in metal containers or other containers of 25 and 50 liters. It is recommended to dilute the composition before use in order to obtain the required viscosity. After that, it is recommended to introduce a tenth of the volume of the thinner into the composition.
It is also allowed to use technical acetone to dilute the substance.
It is recommended to apply the finished composition within 12 hours. The period of use of the processed product is determined by the number of layers. The double layer film can be used for 2 years. In this case, the service life of 4 layers of enamel is at least 4 years.

Apps
The coating was developed for use in shipbuilding. The substance is suitable for application on steel cases. In addition, the composition was suitable for external and internal use.
Underwater coatings, when used in four layers, can retain their protective characteristics for 4 years.If a three-layer coating is used in the variable waterline area, it must be renewed every 2 years.
Thus, the main areas of application of XC-436 enamel include:
- exterior painting of underwater fragments of ship hulls;
- drawing on the waterline;
- interior painting of hulls, coating of structures in holds;
- application to bridging supports;
- treatment of landing stages, berths and other port elements for protection against corrosion;
- paint airlock metal fragments;
- treatment of subsea pipelines.
Manual
In order for the use of the substance to be effective, there is a specific application technique. The process is divided into several stages. First you need to prepare the surface and prepare the enamel. After that, you can proceed to the application of the composition, taking into account the observance of multi-layer technology. It is also necessary to control the quality characteristics of the coating.
Some dyes can be applied in winter when the air temperature is -15 degrees. At the same time, the upper limit for using XC-436 enamel is +35 degrees. If the conditions are not met, the probability of cracking increases.
Preparatory work
The thick emulsion must first be diluted. As a result, it should acquire the consistency of sour cream. In accordance with the instructions, it is allowed to add no more than one tenth of thinner to the composition. Liquid enamel lays down more evenly. It can be used by airless spray.
At first it is recommended to take up to 0.025 part of the hardener per 1 part of the substance. For this, AF-2, which tolerates negative temperatures, or DTB-2, is suitable - this composition is used exclusively at air temperatures above 0.In cold weather, the substance immediately acquires a solid structure. After adding the hardener, it is recommended to mix well and then let stand for at least 30 minutes. This will help start the polymerization reaction.
It is important to use the emulsion immediately, as the polymerization process cannot be stopped and therefore dye residues will deteriorate with any storage option.
Coloring technique
A brush or airless spray method is recommended for application. In this case, the following rules should be observed:
- Before applying the substance, clean the metal surface. In this case, it is recommended to remove oil stains, rust, chipped fragments. The work should be done with sandblasting tools. The degree of cleaning of the coating is regulated by GOST 9.402. If the old layer of paint cannot be peeled off, it is recommended to leave the coating. It is allowed to paint on the enamel.
- Prime the surface. This will help ensure the required adhesion of the enamel to the metal or old surface. The use of VL-023 primer is necessary to obtain a uniform film. It helps to hide small flaws and irregularities. The thickness of this layer should be relatively small - up to 20 microns.
- After the coating dries, it is recommended to pour the prepared enamel into the roller container or fill the spray gun with it.
- Dry each coat of the surface for up to 2.5 hours. Given the peculiarities of operation, the substance can be applied in several layers.
Precautionary measures
Polyvinyl chloride, which is contained in the enamel, is considered a flammable substance. It is recommended to use protective agents for staining.
Storage conditions and periods
Material should be stored away from moisture or direct sunlight. It is recommended to keep the enamel away from heat sources. The composition should be stored in a special room. In addition, its shelf life is 1 year from the date of issue. It is allowed to store the substance at temperatures from -40 to +30 degrees. However, at temperatures below -25 degrees, enamel cannot be stored for more than a month. XC-436 enamel is considered a fairly effective tool that reliably protects metal parts from corrosion. The substance is most often used in shipbuilding. However, it is sometimes also used in domestic conditions.
