Dumplings are a convenient semi-finished product that can be prepared at any time, especially if there is no free time to stand in front of the stove. A tasty and satisfying dish is to the taste of every member of the family, therefore a frozen product is available in almost every household. Dumplings, like other products, have their own shelf life. Knowing the term, storage conditions, you don't have to worry about the safety of cooked food. Find out how many frozen dumplings are stored in the freezer.
Optimal storage conditions
Proper storage of frozen dumplings includes the use of sealed packages. Dough products with minced meat are placed in a plastic container with a lid. The semi-finished product from the store is left in its original packaging.
The optimum temperature is -18 degrees with an air humidity of 50%. The minimum temperature should be -12 degrees. The lower the value, the longer the product is stored. At a temperature of -24 degrees, with rapid freezing, the dumplings do not lose their taste and appearance for up to 9 months. Before putting the product on the shelf in the freezer, the container is marked with the day of packaging.
It is advisable to package the semi-finished product in portions so as not to refreeze it. Cooked dumplings are not subjected to additional freezing.
What determines the shelf life?
According to GOST, the terms and conditions for storing dumplings differ. At -10 degrees are 30 days, at -18 degrees - up to 90 days. The shelf life of a traditional Russian dish depends on a number of factors:
- home or factory production;
- Date of manufacture;
- composition and quality;
- pack;
- storage conditions;
- contained in the composition of dyes, preservatives and other chemicals.
Welcome
The carving method of semi-finished products does not affect the shelf life. The shelf life of the dish depends only on compliance with the temperature regime. In case of insufficient freezing, bacteria will begin to multiply in the product, which will later harm the person who ate it. Under optimal conditions, in sealed packaging, products retain their original appearance and taste for 9 months.
Shop
The manufacturer indicates the expiry date of the product on the packaging. When choosing a semi-finished product, the contents of the package are evaluated, the appearance: the color, the absence of sticky fragments. A high-quality semi-finished product has a uniform white shade. Shelf life may vary depending on product composition. The presence of soy in the minced meat allows the meatballs to be preserved throughout the year. At home, the product from the store is stored at a temperature of -18 degrees for a month.
Boiled
An uneaten part of the dumplings is kept on the refrigerator shelf for no more than a day. The temperature should be about +5 degrees.Before use, the finished dish is taken out of the refrigerator, heated on the stove or in the microwave.
After cooking, a traditional Russian dish is greased with butter, the dishes are covered with cling film. They are sent to the refrigerator shelf. Boiled dumplings are not frozen, as the dough loses its softness and taste.
Storage characteristics of various varieties
There is a wide variety of dough dishes with different fillings. They differ not only in taste, method of preparation, but also in storage characteristics. In order for the products to retain their original appearance, remain tasty, certain storage conditions are observed.
Manty
Previously, the manti is prepared for freezing. A flat plate or cutting board is wrapped in cling film. The stacked products are placed taking care not to come into contact with each other. Place in the freezer for 2-3 hours. After a slight freezing, the mantis is transferred to an airtight, hermetically sealed bag or container.
The product is packaged in portions so you don't have to refreeze the dish.
Ravioli
If, after preparing an Italian dish, a sufficient number of semi-finished products remain, they are placed in the freezer for preservation. Under conditions, the product can be kept for 45 days. Previously, the ravioli are placed on a board covered with cling film. Send it to the freezer for 30 minutes. After freezing, the ravioli are transferred to an airtight box.
Khinkali
The product can also only be stored frozen. The principle of freezing a semi-finished product is the same as for mantis, dumplings and ravioli.Filled dough products are left on a cutting board for 6-8 hours. After freezing, the khinkali are transferred to an airtight package.
Meatballs
A filled unleavened dough dish can be prepared for future use. Semi-finished flour products are able to absorb extraneous odors, so they are placed in an airtight package and sent for storage in a freezer at a temperature of -12 ... -18 degrees. Shelf life is 30 days to six months.
What to do if there is no refrigerator?
In a refrigerated place, dumplings are stored no more than 2-3 days. After this period, it is dangerous to eat them, because pathogenic bacteria multiply in the meat. In the absence of a refrigerator, it is optimal to take out semi-finished products on a balcony or veranda in winter. At subzero temperatures in a dark place, you can leave the product for two weeks. It is not recommended to roll the pellets longer at unstable air temperatures.
Knowing how to properly store dumplings and various stuffed pasta products will protect you from cases of poisoning. After the expiration date of the product, it is not recommended to eat it. Expired semi-finished products are subject to disposal.
