5 simple recipes for making slime from an air freshener
Slime is a popular toy for children. It is a viscous jelly-like substance that sticks or bounces off surfaces and can change shape. Such a toy can be made independently at home from waste materials, for example, starch, detergent, air freshener. Let's see how to make do-it-yourself slime from an air freshener and consider the basic recipes.
Characteristics of deodorizing slimes
The main characteristic of a slime made from an air freshener is its smell. Air fresheners are made with floral and fruity aromas, therefore, to give the toy a pleasant smell, it is not necessary to use additional fragrances. In addition, the slime will be pleasant and slippery to the touch.
It prepares quite quickly, ten minutes will be enough for the whole process. It is recommended to use a respirator or a medical mask when preparing, so as not to inhale a large amount of fumes from the air freshener.
How to choose the right ingredient
To make air freshener slime, you may need additional ingredients, such as PVA glue, baking soda, shampoo, and toothpaste.
Depending on the ingredients chosen, the properties of the toy may vary - it may turn out denser and more elastic, or more viscous and stick to surfaces.
Basic recipes
Consider the basic recipes for creating a toy (slime) from an air freshener. In addition to an air freshener, we may need PVA glue, dyes to add color to the toy, as well as baking soda, toothpaste and shampoo.
Classic
For the first recipe, we will need, in fact, an air freshener, PVA glue, as well as a water-based dye or paint to give the toy a bright and rich color .Pour the PVA glue into a bowl in the amount we need. Add the dye and stir until the mixture acquires the color we need. Add a small amount of air freshener to the solution until the glue begins to curl. Thoroughly mix the resulting substance until it thickens and stops sticking to the surface.
Please note that not all air fresheners are equally suitable for creating slime using this method. The air freshener should not foam when spraying, otherwise the mud may not work.
A soda
This method requires PVA glue, baking soda, dye, and air freshener. Pour a few spoonfuls of glue into a bowl. Add soda and coloring. Stir until the color of the mixture becomes uniform. Now let's add the aerosol to the mix. Spray until the substance begins to bubble and curl up. Don't overdo it with the air freshener, add it little by little. When the mixture begins to roll up and come off the sides of the bowl, take the resulting slime in your hands and knead it.
If the toy is sticky, add a little more baking soda.
With toothpaste
Let's try to make a slime with the addition of toothpaste. You will need an air freshener, toothpaste and PVA glue. Pour the glue into a bowl and add a small amount of toothpaste in a ratio of one to four. Mix well. A dye can be added to add a more intense color. Gradually add the aerosol, constantly stirring the mass. If the mixture does not come out thick enough, add a little more batter. When uniformity and density are achieved, we take the slime in our hand and stretch it to give the toy elasticity and plasticity. The toy is ready when it is solid and easy to stretch in the hands.
With shampoo
Let's look at two options for making slime using an air freshener and shampoo.
First of all
For the first recipe, take PVA glue, shampoo, air freshener, starch and warm water. We mix PVA glue and shampoo in a ratio of about five to one. Gradually add air freshener while stirring. Pour a small amount of starch into our mixture and add a little water. Stir until the mass becomes dense and begins to curl up. We take the slime in our hands and knead it.
Second
For this recipe, we need PVA glue, shampoo, liquid detergent and air freshener. We mix shampoo and a few tablespoons of glue in a container. Mix well until smooth. To add color, we can add stain or water-based paint at this stage.
Spray an air freshener in the resulting mixture and also add a small amount of detergent.Stir for five to ten minutes until the toy takes on the consistency we need, after which we take it in our hands and knead it.
What to do if it sticks to the hands
Sometimes it happens that an already finished toy turns out to be liquid in consistency, does not stretch well and sticks to the hands. Don't rush to throw the slime away and do it in a new way. This problem can be solved in several ways.
The first method is to add to the composition lizuna solution of water and baking soda... To do this, you need to mix two to three tablespoons of warm boiled water and half a teaspoon of baking soda. This solution should be added to a container with slime and mix well. However, it should be remembered that due to the use of soda, the mud will turn out to be harder and less stringy.
For the second method, we need powdered starch. Simply add a small amount of starch to the bowl of slime and stir until thick. Then we take our toy in hand and knead it. As a result, it will acquire the density and ductility that we need, it will not stick to surfaces.
And, finally, the third way is to add boric acid or sodium tetraborate to lizun. This method is suitable if you end up with a liquid, sticky mass instead of a thick plastic toy. The main thing here is not to overdo it and add the ingredient in exactly the required amount. Therefore, add it to the mixture drop by drop, stirring well, until the mass becomes thick. You can combine this method with the addition of starch, thereby adjusting the consistency density.
Storage and Usage Rules
Slime deteriorates and loses its properties on contact with air and high temperatures. Therefore, in order to extend the shelf life of the toy, it should be stored in a small plastic container. You can also put the container in the fridge overnight.
After playing with slime, you should wash your hands thoroughly, since the chemical elements contained in the components of the toy can cause poisoning if they get into the stomach.
Tips & Tricks
When making slime, use gloves and an apron to protect your hands and clothes from the paint. In addition, it is recommended to use a respirator or a medical bandage on the face so that the vapors of the air freshener do not enter the respiratory tract in large quantities. And be sure to protect your eyes from aerosols.
To embellish the toy, you can use several dyes of different colors at once. To do this, you must first prepare the selected mixtures for each color in separate containers, having reached the density, and then mix them with each other. Also, glitter can be used to give the toy an unusual look.
