Application rules

You can work with glitter paint in the same way as with conventional compositions. The main thing is to remember that glitter paints are applied only to the prepared surface. If you paint an uneven and cracked wall with a decorative glitter composition, you will not be able to improve the appearance of the room. You can apply the paint to the surface with a brush, roller or spray paint.

Steps for using glitter paint:

  • surface preparation for painting;
  • clean the base from dirt, dust, old cracked coating;
  • puttying of defects or leveling the surface with plaster;
  • priming;
  • paint the wall with glitter paint or the usual composition in 1-3 layers;
  • in the case of using ordinary paint, the dry surface is covered with a glitter varnish after a month.

At the stage of preparing the wall for painting, the surface is first cleaned of dirt, dust or old cracked coating. To remove a layer of paint, use brushes, spatulas, soap or chemicals that corrode the base. If the coating is in excellent condition, you can lightly sand it, prime it, and apply glitter on top.

The new type of paint must match the old type of paint.It is recommended to apply a primer before applying any composition to the wall. This agent improves adhesion and reduces paint consumption. On sale there are special primers for wood, concrete, plaster. A wooden wall, for example, can be primed with an acrylic primer and painted with an aqueous dispersion of acrylic flakes. The type of primer should be the same as the type of paint.

It is recommended to apply a primer before applying any composition to the wall.

Any paint is applied to the wall in 1-3 layers (no more). To apply the composition to the surface, rollers, brushes and paint sprayers are used. In the case of the use of sprayers, the mixture is made liquid. When using a roller or brush, the composition should resemble thick sour cream (do not drip from the tool).

How to make glitter paint yourself:

  • open a box with painting materials;
  • mix the composition well;
  • pour paint into a small bucket;
  • measure the required amount of sparkles (10 grams are enough to paint 4 square meters of wall);
  • pour glitter into a small bucket of paint;
  • to mix together;
  • add the glitter mixture to the main composition;
  • stir (by hand, without using an electric stirrer).

Prepare the glitter composition just before the repair. During the coloring process, the mixture must be constantly stirred. Sequins may sink to the bottom. It is not recommended to add too much glitter to painting materials. Glitter may peel off the wall over time.
