How to Use Foil Glue Correctly and a Review of the Top Brands

The development of manicure led to the fact that decals on the nails appeared on the market, which are glued with a specialized glue applied to the surface of a thin sheet. Such a composition is distinguished by its hypoallergenic properties, and therefore is very popular. However, the scope of foil glue is not limited to manicure.

Areas of use

There are 2 types of foil glue. A composition is used in manicure - to fix colored stripes on the nails. Another glue is used to attach the foil-covered insulation. The two products differ from each other both in their composition and in their characteristics.

Adhesive Requirements

The general requirements for the adhesive are as follows:

  • hypoallergenic;
  • provides a strong fixation to the nail plate;
  • creates a reliable connection;
  • in contact with water retains its original properties.

The characteristics of the glue depend on the type of sheet with which the composition is applied. These parameters determine the life of the connection between the nail plate and the applied material.

The following types of sheets are produced for nail treatment:

  1. To tear out. Available as stickers or on rolls. This sheet material is used for nail extension or plate finishing.
  2. Translated.It is mainly used by novice manicure masters. This product is less expensive than tear film but is also available in rolls.
  3. Thermo-film. These stickers are attached to the nail plate without glue. In this case, a gel polish is used for fixing.
  4. Sheet for casting. This sticker option allows you to create an original design. Thanks to this foil, you can create a casting effect. Often this material is combined with matte stickers.
  5. Harvest. Thin material produced in compact containers is used to create an aquarium manicure.
  6. Holographic. Available in various forms, including self-adhesive stickers.
  7. Stencil. It is recommended to fix this type of foil on the nails using an adhesive composition.

foil glue

There are other options for manicure foil. Some types of stickers, as shown above, do not require the use of glue. If a thin material is applied to the nails, it is recommended to purchase formulations that do not deform the foil.

Review of the best nail brands

As in the case of foil, various adhesives are used to attach this decorative material. But most often manicurists use products from five popular brands.

"Rio Professional"

A transparent adhesive which, after being applied to the surface, leaves a glossy finish. The advantages of the products of this brand are:

  • dries quickly;
  • does not interact with water;
  • evenly distributed over the surface.

The adhesive of this brand acquires the required strength within three minutes after application.

professional glue

"World Fashion"

A relatively inexpensive product (costs about 80 rubles), which is of good quality. The tool of this brand provides quick adhesion of the foil to the nail plate.For complete drying of the composition, you need to wait 2-4 minutes. The product has a low consumption, so one bottle of 12 ml is enough for several manicure sessions.

Among the minuses of glue from the Gobal Fashion brand, users noted the presence of a thick brush, which limits the scope of the product (not suitable for casting and a number of other types of manicure with Aluminium foil).

"Star Glue"

The product comes in a 16 ml bottle, complete with a thin brush. The composition dries within five minutes of application and washes off easily from exposed skin. The cost of "Star Glue" varies from 120 to 160 rubles.

The adhesive composition has a variety of shades. But after application, the product becomes transparent.

E.CO nails

A Russian product that differs from those listed above in that it requires exposure of the nails under an LED lamp for a minute to gain strength. This material is suitable for gluing thin sheets and tolerates temperature changes well.

foil glue

"GO Active Foil Glue"

Such a composition can be applied not only to the nail plate, but also to gel or varnish. The glue comes with a fine nylon brush to ensure even application of the material. This product is suitable for fixing with crimped foil, foil or transfer film.

Application rules

The procedure for applying glue depends on the type of sheet material selected. But to create an original pattern on the nails, you can use the following algorithm:

  1. Nails are cut as needed and cleaned of dirt.
  2. The base material is applied to the surface of the nail plate, then 2-3 layers of gel polish of the selected shade.
  3. Then you need to apply glue to the surface of the gel polish, without greasing the edges of the nail plate.
  4. Once the adhesive has dried, apply the foil to the wrong side.
  5. Spread the creases and press the material to the nail surface with an orange stick.
  6. Tear the sheet material sharply from the edge.
  7. Degrease the nails with a cotton swab soaked in a suitable solution.
  8. Cover the nail with a finishing agent. It is recommended in this case to choose formulations with a sticky layer, which excludes the risk of cracking.

Before applying the topcoat, it is necessary to clarify whether the selected agent is suitable for sheet application. To do this, you can process a small part of the material with this composition before you start creating a manicure.
