Description and technical characteristics of PF-266 enamel, its consumption and how to apply it
PF-266 enamel is used for the treatment of wooden floors. This paint creates a hard-wearing, washable coating that does not wear out over many years. The composition tolerates the effects of household chemicals well and provides a pleasant shine. However, enamel exhibits these characteristics, provided the rules for application and surface preparation are followed.

Spheres of enamel application
The material is used for painting wood floors. Also, the composition is suitable for processing metal surfaces. In addition, the enamel adheres well to old paintwork. PF-266 enamel cannot be used for surface treatment, which is exposed to atmospheric precipitation and temperature fluctuations. In this case, the applied layer does not last long.
This product is suitable for painting wooden floors in:
- houses and apartments;
- public institutions;
- warehouses;
- gymnasiums.
For painting concrete surfaces, PF-266M enamel is recommended. This composition is supplemented with special additives that increase adhesion to the specified material.
Color spectrum
PF-266 Alkyd Enamel is available in three shades.The most popular is the yellow-brown color. You can also purchase golden brown or reddish brown enamel.
Composition and technical characteristics of paint
The basis of the stain is an alkyd varnish, which is mixed with pigments. This product also contains components that accelerate hardening and promote the formation of a surface film. The material includes organic solvents, thickener and other additives.
This composition has the following characteristics:
- forms a uniform coating;
- forms a moisture-resistant film;
- it resists mechanical stresses;
- able to withstand temperature fluctuations from -40 to +60 degrees;
- the elasticity of the dried layer for bending is 1 millimeter;
- adhesion indicator - 1 point;
- the volume of volatiles is 56 to 68%.
The paint hardens within a day, provided that the ambient temperature exceeds +20 degrees. This product provides corrosion protection, but deforms on contact with alkalis. Further, after the composition dries, a glossy layer with a gloss of 50% or more is formed.
Advantages and disadvantages
When painting surfaces with this material, it is recommended to wear personal protective equipment and create forced ventilation.
Preparation for staining
Before treating the wood, the surface should be prepared by following these steps:
- treat with an anti-corrosion compound;
- remove old paint;
- degrease;
- wash the floor twice with soapy water (before and after degreasing);
- sand the surface with fine grit emery paper.
It is recommended to rinse and dry the floor after each procedure. Only after such preparation can the surface be painted.
Before use, the formed film must be removed from the surface of the PF-266 enamel. This procedure should be done with caution. The remnants of the film should not enter the coloring composition. Otherwise, visible defects will appear on the treated wood, which cannot be removed without damaging the surface layer.
Before starting work, stir the enamel so that the color is uniform. In this case, it is recommended to use a special accessory and a drill. Then you need to mix the enamel with a solvent (with this dye, white spirit is usually used) in a ratio of 1:10. At the end, the composition must be filtered, thereby removing the remnants of the film and other impurities.
How to calculate the expense
Material consumption directly depends on the type of shade chosen. On average, it takes 80 grams of enamel to paint one square meter. This consumption is achieved with a single coat of dark paint.
If enamel of light shades is used, the indicated number increases to 240 grams. To avoid problems, it is recommended to buy about 10% more paint.
How to paint correctly - description of technology
This material can be applied conventionally (with a roller brush) or using spray guns. The surface treatment algorithm is the same in each case. The composition is applied evenly, in one layer. If a roller is used, the paint should be poured into a special tray. This reduces material consumption and does not form stains on the treated floor.
After applying the first layer, it is necessary to take a break for 24 hours. During this period, it is recommended to open the window for ventilation. After the first layer dries, the second is applied. It takes up to three days to fully polymerize the enamel. To make the color more saturated, you can apply a third layer, also waiting at least 24 hours from the moment of the last treatment.
It is recommended to apply the paint with smooth movements so that the dried layer acquires a uniform texture. It is more convenient to do this with a gun or a roller. Bottlenecks (transition zones from floor to wall, etc.) are treated with a brush.
Also, it is recommended to paint these areas first and then move on to the rest of the floor. Thanks to this, the enamel will spread evenly over the entire surface to be treated.
Storage conditions
Alkyd enamel retains the declared characteristics for one year after production. It is recommended to leave a can of paint indoors away from direct exposure to ultraviolet rays. You should also avoid getting water into the container.
Precautionary measures
The paint contains more than 50% volatile substances, which evaporate during the drying process and penetrate the skin or enter the respiratory tract.Therefore, when treating surfaces with this enamel, it is necessary to wear personal protective equipment: gloves, respirators, goggles, etc.
This work must be carried out away from open fire sources. The enamel contains a solvent which ignites on contact with fire. Painting is prohibited in rooms where foodstuffs are stored or it is impossible to organize ventilation.
If dye comes in contact with the skin, these areas should be treated with a suitable solvent. If this product enters the body, seek medical attention.
Analogs
Instead of PF-266 enamel, you can purchase PF-115 paint. The latter has comparable characteristics, but has a large number of nuances.
Comments
Valentina, Moscow:
“We painted the floor of a country house with PF-266 enamel. In the last 3 years, the surface has not peeled off or faded, provided that all the premises are not heated during the year. Later, we decided to paint the floor of the terrace. But in this case, the cover failed to do its homework."
Igor, Simferopol:
“I liked the PF-266 enamel because you don't have to remove old paint to treat the floor. But at the same time, the entire surface had to be sanded, which took a lot of time. Two years after staining, the enamel does not cause any complaints. The floor retained its original color and was not erased even in the passage."
Anatoly, Voronezh:
“Good painting. For several years of operation, it has not been erased or faded. The painting first attracted attention for its affordability. And three years later it turned out that enamel creates a truly durable coating. »
